Born in Positano, Italy, Antica Sartoria is a leading brand in Italian beachwear with a beautiful story to tell. In the 1960s, local traders took notice of the growing market for “moda positano” among tourists who would flock to the sunny island from colder climates, but without the right attire. These resourceful traders saw this opportunity and made use of scarves, linen and cotton towels, and bridal hope chests to transform fine hand-embroidered sheets and doilies into elegant evening gowns. These gowns caught the attention of the likes of Benetton and Fiorucci, who helped them developed a unique tie-dyeing technique, providing more colors to their pieces.
During one of his visits to Positano, Giacomo Cinque expressed his love for art of embroidery creating unique patterns.Today, together with Riccardo Ruggiti, he runs the Antica Sartoria, a resortwear fashion brand that aims to spread Positano's culture and spirit throughout the world.
